About SynAudCon Online

Isn't technology wonderful! The internet now allows us to bring live classes to you through your computer, allowing you to experience a SynAudCon seminar at the time and location of your choosing.

We have kept the best parts of the live training experience, and added some things that we could not do live. The course topics are broken down into smaller tracks allowing you to digest information over time.

What To Expect from the SynAudCon Online Experience

  • Each of SynAudCon online videos are produced by Pat Brown. Pat has the unique gift of being able to share his knowledge of complex technical topics in an easy-to-understand manner.

  • We use animations. Understanding is often just a matter of seeing the right picture, and a moving picture is even better. Flash animation is used liberally throughout videos.

  • The demos that you enjoyed in our past seminars live on in the on-line training, captured on camera complete with audio.

  • The "Level 100 - Principles of Audio" training is structured as part of the SynAudCon membership. This allows you to work at your own pace and repeat the lessons as often as you like. At the end of the year you may re-subscribed at a reduced rate.*
*You will be charged full price if you let your subscription lapse.

  • We will continually add new online content. Future online content will be priced separately.

  • The "Learning Management System" will keep track of the sessions that you have completed. Coming Soon! ...

Helpful Tips while watching videos:

  • If we cover it, it's important. The number of possible audio topics approaches infinity, so we only address the important ones. Some topics may not seem relevant at first, but the relevance will eventually become apparent, I promise.

  • Don't be tempted to skip lessons! This is a building block approach, and the advanced topics assume that you have completed all previous lessons. Skipping lessons will produce knowledge gaps and won't save you any time in the long run. We will build your audio vocabulary over time so that when new and advanced topics are added they will build upon what you already know

  • Do the lesson more than once. Hit "pause." Think. Contemplate the animations. Use the rewind button liberally. One advantage of this approach is that you can repeat a lesson until you get it, and you can review at any time. The learning process is a circle, not a line and repetition is highly encouraged.

  • On occasion a term must be used before it is fully presented. This is why it is important to work through the material more than once. What doesn't fully make sense the first time through will the second or third time.

  • Learn how to learn. Take it slow. Be consistent. Each lesson is short, but full of information. These are bite-sized, concentrated chunks that you can watch once or twice at the beginning of your day, and then contemplate throughout the day. The emphasis is on quality, not quantity and we endeavor to keep the lessons as concise as possible. You will appreciate that in the future when for you these become a refresher course.

  • Establish your learning environment. Each lesson has a PDF file that can be printed, or watched on a separate screen or computer. A dual-monitor setup can be useful, but it is not necessary. Printing the PDFs can make it easier to take notes.

  • The SynAudCon Audio Click-Rule will be used from time-to-time for calculations. Be sure to install it before you begin. We've made it small so that it can reside on the same screen as the videos. It's been designed to allow you to play with the variables to develop an intuition for how they interact. The intuition is more important than the mathematics, which is why the Click-Rule doesn't feel like a calculator.

Like learning in real life, SynAudCon training will always be a work in progress. Once you take these classes you will be a part of the SAC community, and the learning can continue through our email discussion group and blogs.

Joining SynAudCon makes you a Member of our Community. Our Community is the foundation of our synergetic philosophy and a valuable asset to your ongoing audio education.
