The class also goes into detail on how to use modern dual-channel FFT measurement platforms.

On day three the complete setup of a 3-way triamped loudspeaker, including polarity testing, equalization, crossover selection and signal alignment is demonstrated.

Due to the launch of our online training, our in-person serminar schedule is light this year. This will be the last time this course will be offered in 2010. It is also our first visit to Pittsburgh. Needless to say, we are very excited.

Microphone Mythbusters Vol. 1

Welcome to the first edition of Microphone Mythbusters! My name is Gino Sigismondi, Technical Training Manager at Shure Incorporated, and I will be your guide as we attempt to separate fact from fiction regarding the crucial input stage of the sound system. I have been part of Shure Applications Engineering for the better part of 12 years, and a “sound guy” for longer than that. It would be a complete fabrication to say I didn’t believe many of the myths we’ll be discussing when I first came to work at Shure, because I learned the sound trade the way I’m sure many of us did – on the job. This is how legends get passed down. But I’ve had the extreme good fortune to work with a number of really smart people here at Shure, and soon learned that many of the “facts” that I held as truth turned out to have little scientific basis. And judging by many of the common questions we get on a daily basis, many of these myths still perpetuate. Read more »

“Principles of Audio” Web-Based Training

I just finished the Level 100: Principles of Audio Web-Based training. Lots of stuff I already knew but presented in a way that was the more succinct than I could have ever thought of. There were also lots of stuff that I just simply didn’t know, or realized I had misunderstood.

WAY smart dudes.

But what are we to do if our country doesn’t want to hear from good men?  Should we vote them out in the upcoming election?

These, and many other political topics are ripe for the picking on the SynAudCon Email Discussion Group!

Successful Job

“I wanted to share with you that I have just completed a major sound system upgrade for a cathedral in TN.

There have been multiple attempts (by others) over the years to produce intelligible speech in this facility without success.

All of the practical skills I’ve learned through SynAudCon were put to the test on this project.  Thanks to the advanced knowledge I’ve obtained through SynAudCon, this facility now has intelligible speech in all seating areas and configurations.

Thanks to the success of this project, I’ve been approached by others for work in their worship spaces.

I could not have pulled it off so well without the help of SynAudCon and all its practical resources.  I am humbled and grateful.”
