Thank you SynAudCon

As a graduate of many SynAudCons, I admire greatly what you’ve done from an educational standpoint in the professional audio industry. I may have a Master’s Degree from the University of Miami in Music Engineering, but I can honestly say that as far as audio systems design and integration, it didn’t really start to come together for me until I attended my first SynAudCon almost 10 years ago.  My SynAudCon experience synthesized much of what I learned in school and helped me apply it to my work every day.  It’s also done much to get me thinking about looking for opportunities to teach and mentor others.

Just Completed Level 100: Principles of Audio Web-Based Training

Hardy,

Thank you for making me aware of the audio courses being offered by SynAud Con. I started the Level 100 course prior to attending the Training Seminar on Airport Communication Systems at IED. The information presented in this course provided me a foundation to better understand audio systems and the terms and concepts used to explain Airport Communication Systems. Through the Level 100: Principles of Audio course I have a greater ability to manage the system at DFW International Airport.

I have read several books on audio systems and audio engineering. If I had taken this course first I would have been able to comprehend the information presented faster and more completely.

As the use of audio systems in life safety systems continues to grow, it is very important to understand the science these systems are built on in order to use the systems most effectively.

I recommend that anyone who is involved in audio/communication systems have the knowledge presented in this course. The information was presented in a manner that facilitates learning even though some of the concepts are not intuitively apparent.

Thank you again for the opportunity to participate in this training.

Sincerely,

Joe Collins, NICET Level IV Fire Alarm Systems

Brenda Brown Wraps Up 2010

Brenda Brown SynAudCon

I think for most individuals and companies, 2010 was a year that forced many of us to re-evaluate our situation. Times are changing and changing quickly. Increased efficiency is at the top of everyone list.

We too, started asking those questions in 2009. We spent most of 2010 creating a new business model. As with any change, we had our share of challenges and made a few mistakes along the way.

When we first announced our plans to create web-based training, we had more negative comments than positive. This was disturbing to us but it challenged us to do our homework . We reviewed existing online training and worked hard to find ways to make our training engaging and interesting. After much research we believe we have produced Web-based training that will serve the audio industry well during these challenging economical times. Read more »

You helped my career

I have attended several SynAudCon Seminars. The more seminars I go to, the more it sinks in and I can call upon it when I need to, on site.

I wish you were around to hear me repeat the words of Pat over and over. “It depends”, “loudspeakers should be measured in volts not watts”, “proper gain setup”, “run the console the same and adjust the volume at the amplifiers”.

One final note on why I love SYNAUDCON. Your unbiased approach to honestly teach what we need to know without leaning towards one product or another.

Pat, your work is second to NONE!

Pat, your work is second to NONE!  I have always appreciated both the level of expertise your bring, as well as the practicality you add to the delivery.   Likewise, your desire to help those individuals attending your classes understand and grow is obvious.  Even walking a show floor, I have seen you stop to explain a concept to a novice in our industry, with the same devotion to excellence and growth shown in your classes.

But beyond delivering a good product, your passion to push our industry higher, always to better more defined standards of excellence, is amazing.   That desire was passed to you from your mentors, Don and Carolyn Davis.   You honor them in your continued devotion to truth to make that happen.

As always, I will pray for Syn-Aud-Con and you in 2011.  My prayer is that, as with your courses in audio, your on-line training will set new standards for others to follow.  It will also be that this new effort will afford you much well deserved time with your family.

May Christ bless you richly in 2011.

A Tribute to Randy Vaughan

Don and Carolyn Davis thoughts

Randy Vaughan

Randy Vaughan

We were especially touched by the death of Randy Vaughan.  He was in our very first SynAudCon seminar in DC in 1973 – and many more after.  We never lost contact with Randy in our 22 years of teaching seminars. It was Randy that brought about our asking Pat to help us conduct a class at the farm.  Randy had agreed to assist Don teach a seminar at the farm, May 1993, starting Thursday.  Randy called on Tuesday afternoon to say that he had a doctor report that showed the sore on his foot was cancer.  He said that he would live, but it sufficiently shook him up that he felt that it was not wise for him to take part in the seminar.
