Special One-Time Event

Synergetic Audio Concepts brings together an “all-star staff” (see below) in system design and measurement of speech intelligibility — all in one place, all at one time.

With the new NFPA-72 and UL2572 codes that are associated with Emergency Communication Systems, speech intelligibility seems to be on everyone’s mind. Whether you design, install or maintain sound reinforcement systems or emergency communication systems, this workshop is for you. The emphasis will be on ECS, but the principles apply to systems of all types.

Watch this 2-minute video to get a workshop overview.

AA Training Center has a mock-up of an airport terminal.

This workshop will

  • help you understand the NFPA-72 and UL2572 codes.
  • help you understand Speech Intelligibility Index (STI)
  • help you measure STI.
  • teach you how to design a system that will produce good STI results.
  • demonstrate the STI measurement process so you can determine if a system meets the code.

The Venue

Speech Intelligibility workshop has been at the top of our list for several years. With the new NFPA-72 and UL2572 laws, we felt even more urgency.  Earlier this year, we found the perfect venue for such an event – “American Airlines Training and Conference Center.” This facility has a mock-up of Chicago’s O’Hare Airport terminal with an adjacent 300 seat auditorium.

Flagship Auditorium is located adjacent to the Atrium

It comes complete with a reverberant field, arch ceilings, large windows – all the problems that plague large spaces.

Dates: January 3-5, 2013

Why those dates? Training for American Airline employees is closed during that time. This means that we have the complex to ourselves. The venue is perfect for demonstrations. It’s time to get creative and have fun.
Never again will you get an opportunity to learn from the experts in a venue where they will not only explain the principles but demonstrate them.

For “Hotel & Travel”, “Instructors” and “additional course information” click on the below TABS. Read this article that explains a study that Pat Brown is doing for the workshop. The workshop is approved for 28 Renewal Units.
