Syn-Aud-Con Real World Audio Education
Sound Reinforcement For Technicians
Course Overview

Studying "how it works" is the key to troubleshooting and setting the system up correctly.

This seminar covers the theory behind how systems work, and demonstrates how to use instrumentation to look "under the hood" to troubleshoot systems. Advanced topics such a crossover adjustments and equalization are presented in a technical, yet practical manner. This course will teach you how systems work and how to fix them when they don't.

The principles presented in the Technicians course are built on those discussed in the Operators course, which we recommend as a prerequisite for this seminar (although it is not required).

Seminar Highlights
Voltage, Current, Impedance
With a practical understanding of basic electronics, the audio technician can properly interface any output to any input.
Waveform Characteristics
Audio and acoustic levels and power ratings don't have to be confusing. Learn what they mean and how to use them to calibrate a sound system.
Grounding
Sound systems must be grounded to be safe, but grounding can produce hum and buzz problems. Learn the reasons why and what to do about it.
Gain Structure
Audio components have different operating levels and overload points. Learn how to make them work together as a system.
Signal Processing
Technical signal processing includes equalization and crossover configuration. We use a variety of tools to demonstrate how to calibrate the sound system.
Instrumentation
Tips and techniques for using voltmeters, impedance meters, polarity testers, acoustic analyzers and more.
Cost: $600

Who Should Attend?

This course is for those who install, configure and calibrate sound reinforcement systems.
